Who We Are

Alice Fiorica - Psychologist and CBT therapist
Online Only- English & Italian

I am a registered Psychologist, a CBT therapist an ACT Therapist, a Coach and a Mindfulness practitioner.

I have over 15 years experience in working in public health services, charities, councils and in private practice both in the UK and in Italy.

I work with adults and young people 16+ experiencing depression and anxiety disorders;  Bipolar and mood disorders, people who want to change career and life; executives and leaders, as well as people presenting with low self esteem and depression.

In my work I integrate the proven effectiveness of CBT and the latest research on personal development and success, with the benefits of the moment by moment awareness of Mindfulness and the values oriented work of ACT.

The aim is to move forward in life by identifying unhelpful behavioural and cognitive patterns and changing what is stopping you from living a full and meaningful life. Being that limiting beliefs, difficult emotions, traumas or childhood issues.

My approach

Therapy as well as life is for me a journey of self discovery and self improvement. I greatly value the opportunity to be a companion and a support on your journey.

Together we will identify where you want to go in life and what you want to achieve with therapy. We will also identify what has got in your way up to now or is still affecting you in living the life you want to live.

I’ll be on your side to help you understand the unique message each emotion brings and to help you in developing behaviours that acknowledge the difficulty, whist still moving forward in your chosen direction.

We will use a combination of CBT, Mindfulness, ACT and Coaching to identify your values and the life you want to live, creating a Mindful awareness and a different relation with your thought and feeling, while changing unhelpful behaviours into values driven effective action that will help you achieve your goals in life. We will address any issue in an open and supportive way.

About me.

I graduated in Clinical and Social Psychology from the University of Padua, Italy in 2002 and I was a registered psychologist in Italy between 2003 and 2008. Since moving to the UK I trained in CBT (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy) at Royal Holloway University, London, in ACT  (Acceptance and Commitment Therapy), Mindfulness and Coaching for Success.

You can expect a therapy that is both practical and reflective, delivered with empathy, collaboration and compassion in a non judgmental, safe space that you can own.

I firmly believe in the power of a good therapeutic relationship to maximise the benefits of specific psychological techniques.

I am also experienced in the management of chronic complex psychotic disorders and offer second and third line treatments for difficult to treat illnesses.

I have 12 years experience working in the field of psychiatry.

I have also worked for several years with patients with emerging psychosis, in the community. I led the set up of the early detection for psychosis team (OASIS) for young adults in Croydon and Lewisham.

My approach

I have deep respect and genuine interest in people’s unique personal story and suffering from their own point of view. I treat my patients’ privacy and confidentiality very seriously. I offer a non judgemental approach, empathic understanding and a professional yet warm support.

I strive to identify and strengthen personal resilience and I deeply believe that when suffering is not denied, but faced with the right support, it can even become an enriching human experience.

I have a holistic understanding of mind and body and aim to support the person as a whole.

I always involve my patients in decisions regarding their treatment and discuss with them pros and cons of possible management strategies, including medications, which I only offer when clinically indicated, after careful assessments of potential risks and benefits.

About Me

I trained in Medicine and in Surgery at the University of Pavia, in Italy. The faculty of medicine in this university is one of the oldest worldwide and the top in Italy.

I graduated in 2007 (110/110 cum laude). I then qualified in Psychiatry in 2012 (50/50 cum laude).

My passion for a holistic approach to care led me to deepen my scientific knowledge conducting a PhD at the University of Pavia, investigating the relationship between psychopathology and neurobiology, which I completed in 2016.

The desire to expand my cultural horizons motivated me to obtain a Clinical Research Attachment to one of the most prestigious training and research centre in Psychiatry worldwide: the Institute of Psychiatry, Psychology and Neuroscience, King’s College London.

Since then, I dedicated to the study of psychiatric disturbances, maintaining a position in the same Institute, while working in the NHS as a Consultant Psychiatrist for the South London and Maudsley Foundation Trust.

My research activities led to publish original articles in high impact factor peer-reviewed journals, win prizes, present at international conferences and write books.

Laura Walton- Clinical Psychologist and Coach
Online Only- English

I am a Clinical Psychologist with over 10 years of experience in the NHS and Private Practice. For two years I have worked with people entirely online and am enthusiastic about the convenience and clinical benefits of therapy via videocall.

I have experience across the spectrum of human distress, including: anxiety, stress & burnout, depression, sleeping problems, lifestyle concerns, psychosis, bipolar and trauma. Having helped people with such a range of personal and situational difficulties I have seen that suffering, whatever form it takes, can be understood as coming from the same human processes. With this understanding I support people in responding to challenges and connecting with their lives.

As a Clinical Psychologist I draw on a broad range of theories to understand what creates a person’s current difficulties. I am experienced in offering various therapeutic approaches as helpful to the individual. I specialize in ACT and my aim is to help people to live flexibly and well.

My Approach

I offer a space in which we can work together to understand the difficulties you are facing and the hopes you have for change. From there we can identify what you need to get unstuck from what is bothering you and move more effectively towards the life you want.

I take the stance that we are both two equal humans, each with our own strengths and struggles. We will create a space in which I offer to assist you to face your difficulties. I will draw on all my experience and knowledge to help you, with empathy and presence.

What we talk about and do will very much depend on what you need across the time we are working together. I follow a structured and evidence-based approach and apply this flexibly to move with you.

About Me

I completed a Doctorate in Clinical Psychology at the University of Edinburgh in 2010, having studied Psychology since 2001. I worked as a Psychologist in the NHS for 11 years, where I gained a great deal of experience and explored various ways of working.

I follow the ideas and practices from ACT within my own life. It is an approach which has shaped the way I work and enables me to engage deeply in my work with people. I work actively on myself and enjoy helping other people to heal and grow.

Steven McFarlane - CBT Therapist
Therapy in English- in London & Online

I am a Cognitive-Behavioural Therapist , EMDR Therapist, clinical supervisor and coach. I am fully accredited by the British Association of Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapies (BABCP.) I work with clients using an integration of traditional Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and the contemporary CBT approaches of compassion-focussed Therapy (CFT) and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT).

Through EMDR I am able to help clients utilise the innate healing capacity of the brain in order to reprocess and reconfigure the difficult and traumatic memories that still affect them today.

I have over a decade’s worth of experience of providing evidence-based and effective therapy to a number of diverse clients across the UK within the NHS and in private practice. My work has primarily focused on working with clients that experience difficulties with confidence as a consequence of depression/low mood, anxiety and traumatic responses.

My approach

My approach to therapy is based on embracing the wisdom and insights of traditional approaches and applying these in the context of the scientific research into the human mind and development. In therapy I aim to form relationships with people based on kindness, honesty and mutual respect and use this as a basis for safe exploration. I am able to help people to identify and overcome patterns of thoughts, behaviours and responses through helping to understand from a place of kindness and compassion.

At the start of therapy I will encourage you to create some distance from your current problems, understand their origins, and think about what things you would like to be different. Together we can then start to explore what patterns are occurring in your life through observation and from a place of non-judgement. Collaboratively we can identify targets for change fitting with your values and current life.

Together we will be able to identify and develop your inner strength and use traditional and novel approaches to engage in actions and ways of thinking that are significant and long-lasting.
