Who We Are

Alice Fiorica - Psychologist & CBT Therapist
Online Only- English & Italian

I am a registered Psychologist, a CBT therapist an ACT Therapist, a Coach and a Mindfulness practitioner.

I have over 15 years experience in working in public health services, charities, councils and in private practice both in the UK and in Italy.

I work with adults and young people 16+ experiencing depression and anxiety disorders;  Bipolar and mood disorders, people who want to change career and life; executives and leaders, as well as people presenting with low self esteem and depression.

In my work I integrate the proven effectiveness of CBT and the latest research on personal development and success, with the benefits of the moment by moment awareness of Mindfulness and the values oriented work of ACT.

The aim is to move forward in life by identifying unhelpful behavioural and cognitive patterns and changing what is stopping you from living a full and meaningful life. Being that limiting beliefs, difficult emotions, traumas or childhood issues.

Therapy as well as life is for me a journey of self discovery and self improvement. I greatly value the opportunity to be a companion and a support on your journey.

Together we will identify where you want to go in life and what you want to achieve with therapy. We will also identify what has got in your way up to now or is still affecting you in living the life you want to live.

I’ll be on your side to help you understand the unique message each emotion brings and to help you in developing behaviours that acknowledge the difficulty, whist still moving forward in your chosen direction.

We will use a combination of CBT, Mindfulness, ACT and Coaching to identify your values and the life you want to live, creating a Mindful awareness and a different relation with your thought and feeling, while changing unhelpful behaviours into values driven effective action that will help you achieve your goals in life. We will address any issue in an open and supportive way.

I graduated in Clinical and Social Psychology from the University of Padua, Italy in 2002 and I was a registered psychologist in Italy between 2003 and 2008. Since moving to the UK I trained in CBT (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy) at Royal Holloway University, London, in ACT  (Acceptance and Commitment Therapy), Mindfulness and Coaching for Success.

You can expect a therapy that is both practical and reflective, delivered with empathy, collaboration and compassion in a non judgmental, safe space that you can own.

I firmly believe in the power of a good therapeutic relationship to maximise the benefits of specific psychological techniques.

Ilaria Bonoldi- Consultant Psychiatrist
Online Only- English & Italian

I’m a substantive Consultant Psychiatrist in the NHS, and a Honorary Clinical Research Fellow at the Institute of Psychiatry, Psychology and Neuroscience, King’s College of London. I do my private practice at Crossroads Psychology exclusively Online

I am skilled in the management of a broad range of psychiatric problems, both minor and severe.

In addition to my availability to assess and manage common problems such as stress, anxiety and depression, I have a special interest in bipolar and psychosis, ranging from early prodromal state, to treatment resistant illness. I have particular experience in the assessment, early detection and management of a variety of emerging psychiatric disorders in young adults.

I am also experienced in the management of chronic complex psychotic disorders and offer second and third line treatments for difficult to treat illnesses.

I have 12 years experience working in the field of psychiatry.

In the NHS I work as a substantive consultant psychiatrist at the South London and Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust for TREAT (Treatment Review and Assistance Team), a specialist Service for patients with difficult to manage psychotic symptoms and side effects from treatment, complex physical comorbidities and treatment resistant psychosis.

I have also worked for several years with patients with emerging psychosis, in the community. I led the set up of the early detection for psychosis team (OASIS) for young adults in Croydon and Lewisham.

I have deep respect and genuine interest in people’s unique personal story and suffering from their own point of view. I treat my patients’ privacy and confidentiality very seriously. I offer a non judgemental approach, empathic understanding and a professional yet warm support.

I strive to identify and strengthen personal resilience and I deeply believe that when suffering is not denied, but faced with the right support, it can even become an enriching human experience.

I have a holistic understanding of mind and body and aim to support the person as a whole.

I always involve my patients in decisions regarding their treatment and discuss with them pros and cons of possible management strategies, including medications, which I only offer when clinically indicated, after careful assessments of potential risks and benefits.

I trained in Medicine and in Surgery at the University of Pavia, in Italy. The faculty of medicine in this university is one of the oldest worldwide and the top in Italy.

I graduated in 2007 (110/110 cum laude). I then qualified in Psychiatry in 2012 (50/50 cum laude).

My passion for a holistic approach to care led me to deepen my scientific knowledge conducting a PhD at the University of Pavia, investigating the relationship between psychopathology and neurobiology, which I completed in 2016.

The desire to expand my cultural horizons motivated me to obtain a Clinical Research Attachment to one of the most prestigious training and research centre in Psychiatry worldwide: the Institute of Psychiatry, Psychology and Neuroscience, King’s College London.

Since then, I dedicated to the study of psychiatric disturbances, maintaining a position in the same Institute, while working in the NHS as a Consultant Psychiatrist for the South London and Maudsley Foundation Trust.

My research activities led to publish original articles in high impact factor peer-reviewed journals, win prizes, present at international conferences and write books.

Laura Chisholm- Clinical Psychologist
Online Only- English

I am a clinical psychologist, offering private and confidential assessment and treatment for adults who are experiencing emotional and mental health difficulties.

Alongside this I work within a specialist perinatal mental health service within the NHS. This service works specifically with parents struggling with their mental health during their pregnancy and the first year postnatally, as well as the ambivalent feelings that this transition, new role and new relationship with their baby, can raise for people at this time.

There are a number of reasons that draw people to psychological therapy, ranging from: anxiety, depression, OCD, Bipolar Disorder, Trauma and stress-related disorders, emotional regulation difficulties; to a general sense of being dissatisfied with their relationships with others; or a curiosity to learn more about themselves and the way that you interact with the world around you.

As a clinical psychologist, I draw upon a broad spectrum of evidence based therapeutic models to provide holistic interventions to support clients with the above difficulties to make meaningful and sustainable changes in their lives. I use a range of therapeutic models to inform my interventions with individuals; including cognitive behavioural therapy, acceptance and commitment therapy, compassion focused therapy, interpersonal therapy, dialectical behavioural therapy skills training and systemic ideas.

Life can throw up a great deal of difficulties and emotional struggles, and it can be beneficial to take the time to make sense of these in a safe and supportive space. The therapeutic relationship is a space in which to better understand your suffering, to understand its origins and what keeps it going, whilst bolstering your resilience and personal strengths. I believe that the key to successful therapy is a collaborative and trusting relationship, where you feel understood and are given the space to work towards your personal solutions. Time will be spent reviewing what is working well and what is getting in the way of us making progress.

The therapeutic process encourages us to see ourselves as an active participate in our lives and empower you to learn new skills and ways of coping, harnessing your potential to create change. We will work together to establish your goals and values, with the aim of using them to make committed actions to moving towards a more fulfilling life.

I completed a Doctorate in Clinical Psychology at the University of Canterbury Christchurch in 2017, having studied psychology since 2007. I have worked within the NHS since 2012 in various settings, including community mental health teams, inpatient services, and forensic secure services.

I am committed to supporting individuals to foster a more positive and compassionate narrative about their experiences and struggles and to strive for a healthy meaningful life.

Valeria Maccioni- Psychologist
English & Italian- Online Only

I am a registered Psychologist with the HCPC (Health and Care Professions Council), with extensive training in a range of psychological approaches, in particular cognitive models.

I have over 15 years experience working in mental health providing psychological assessments and treatments to adults in general hospital environment, psychiatric units, forensic setting and private practice.

My main interests include mood and anxiety disorders, stress, grief, low self-esteem and trauma. I have worked extensively using mindfulness-based interventions with both individual clients and staff support groups within the NHS.

I am currently employed by SLAM (South London and Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust) as a senior psychologist in a mental health team.

I work with clients offering both brief and longer term therapy in a warm and supportive space in which to explore recent or more long-standing emotional suffering.

I do believe that through the establishment of a therapeutic relationship based on trust and genuineness we can work collaboratively focusing on the difficulties with which you are struggling at this specific moment and the changes you wish to make.

By assuming an attitude of curiosity, we will not only look at how your difficulties developed, but mainly at what maintains them, exploring and creating more helpful strategies and ways of living more meaningfully.

My choice to become a psychologist was influenced by a passion for the helping professions and an attitude of enquiring, which helped me to develop a critical way of thinking and questioning throughout my career.

After obtaining the Chartered Status as a Psychologist in Italy in 2004 I had the opportunity to work in different mental health services.

I also attended numerous courses to enhance my psychological knowledge and expertise, including a 3-year PGdiploma in group psychotherapy at the Middlesex University in London, 2-year PGdiploma in systemic thinking and practice accredited by AFT (Association of Family Therapy) and numerous cognitive behavioural therapy courses for specific disorders.
